Methodology
How We Rank Restaurants
What's in the directory
NewYorkEatsguide covers 12,356 restaurants, cafes, bakeries, delis and bars across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. Each listing includes its address, category, opening hours, phone number, website and public rating where available. The 2,176 highest-rated places also have their own page.
Where the data comes from
Listing details are compiled from public business listings and refreshed periodically. Restaurants open, close and change hours all the time, so treat hours and phone numbers as a starting point and confirm with the restaurant before you go. Spotted something out of date? Send us a correction and we'll update it.
Neighborhoods are assigned from each listing's map location using standard NYC neighborhood boundaries, so a place always appears under the neighborhood it's physically in.
How rankings work
Neighborhood, category and borough lists are ordered by public star rating, with one adjustment: places with at least 25 reviews rank ahead of places with only a handful, so a 5.0 from three reviews can't outrank a 4.8 from two thousand. Within the same rating, the place with more reviews ranks higher.
To get its own page, a place needs a rating of 4.6 or higher from at least 150 reviews.
No paid placements
No restaurant pays to be listed, ranked or written about on NewYorkEatsguide. Rankings come from the data above, not from advertising.
Our guides and articles
Blog posts and neighborhood guides are written by the NewYorkEatsguide team. They reflect our own opinions and observations, and we update them when places close or change. Every article shows its publication date, and an "updated" date when it has been revised.
